Surkhet, dui nabalak prahari hirasat ma. Surkhet/September 11 Police say that they have been compelled to keep two underage boys in the custody since September 3 after their guardians failed to come to the police station to take them home. The boys were held on charge of theft in Birendranagar. DSP Deepak Regmi said that legally, the boys should be handed back to the guardians during the investigation period but they had no other option as no one had come to take the responsibility of the boys. Regmi added that the police wanted to hand the minors to District Child Welfare Committee but it did not take them saying it did not have proper shelter for them. As the law allowed investigation into the case by extending the custody of accused under the age of 16, the police were investigating the charge against the boys. The boys were charged with stealing a laptop on August 6 and selling it to a local Bishal Shrestha for Rs 1,000. Bishnal has also been arrested by the police.
