Sunsari/September 16 Raj Kumar Rai, 33, the Principal of Janjyoti Primary School in Bishnu Paduka VDC-3 and resident of Dharan Municipality-11 has been arrested by the police on September 13 on charge of sexual abuse of an 11-year-old girl. The girl's relatives filed a complaint at Area Police Office, Dharan on September 13 accusing Rai of abuse of the girl at his home a day earlier alluring her with promise of noodles. DSP Tek Bahadur Tamang informed that Rai's custody was extended by seven days for investigation. Meanwhile, children affiliated to Child Club Dharan, held a sit-in in front of the Area Police Office for whole day on September 15 claiming that the UCPN-M was trying to free the accused. Saying that the legal proceedings against Rai had already been forwarded, DSP Tamang assured the demonstrating children that the accused will be punished if proved guilty.
