Bardiya/October 14 Two persons have been injured when cadres of UCPN-M and NC clashed at Moraiya in Rajapur VDC-3 on October 12. The clash had ensured between the cadres of both parties when they reached the place for election campaigns. NC cadres Jyoti Bikram Tharu and Ganesh Prasad Tharu of Rajapur VDC-3 sustained severe injuries to their head when attacked by sharp weapon. They underwent further treatment at District Hospital Gulariya after primary treatment at local primary health centre. Local sources informed that a dispute took place when NC cadres arrived at the house of one UCPN-M cadre during election campaign. YCL cadres had arrived with sharp weapons following the debate. NC Bardiya President Sanjaya Gautam said that he would give details about the incident after getting information from the party's local committee. UCPN-M Bardiya District Coordinator Durga Tharu said that some men in inebriated condition had arrived at the house of Rajapur VDC Committee member Masal and knocked repeatedly slandering him. Tharu added that a minor clash occurred when Masal called police and friends through phone. He further said that both sides would sit for talks and take future steps to avoid further clash. Inspector Raju Thapa of the Area Police Office Rajapur said that a clash had ensued between groups who had consumed alcohol. He said that the incident had taken political form as the election campaign had coincided with the festivities. He added that an agreement had been reached between the NC and UCPN-M cadres to avoid such incidents in future during a meeting held at the APO Rajapur on October 13.
