A person died and another sustained minor injuries in a clash between two groups during the Deusi-Bhailo programme in Hetauda.
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Rana Magar, 47, of Padam Pokhari Sigreni, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11.
Youths of Nawalpur under the influence of alcohol attacked the youths of Sigreni, Padam Pokhari while they were playing Deusi-Bhailo near a suspension bridge in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11.
As soon as Rana Magar got the information that the youths of Nawalpur attacked his son and the youths of his village, he came out of his grocery shop to help them but the youths attacked him with an iron rod.
Critically injured in the incident, Rana Magar breathed his last at the Hetauda-based Chure Hill Hospital, police said.
Ranjit Shrestha, 25, was injured in the attack. He has already returned home after receiving primary treatment.
Police said that they have arrested seven persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of Rana Magar.
The suspects have been identified as Jisu Shrestha, 23, Suresh Shrestha, 29, Saurav Aryal, 23, Amul Lama, 25, Amrit Lama, 24, Rupesh Chuni Magar, 22, of Nawalpur, Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11 and Sujen Lama, 29, of Nuwakot currently residing at Nawalpur.
SP Buddhi Raj Gurung said some youths involved in the incident are on the run.
