HETAUDA, NOV 14 - Nepali Congress (NC) district secretary and three other party activists were injured when unidentified persons hurled an improvised explosive device (IED) at a jeep they were travelling in at Chhatiwan-5 in Makwanpur on Wednesday evening. The explosive device landed on the road and missed the vehicle. District secretary Bishnu Dahal and activists Pitambar Bastola, Bhakta Thing and Shankar Zimba were taken to the Hetauda Hospital with shrapnel wounds. The NC team was on its way to Hetauda after attending an election rally at Phaparbari, when it was waylaid at Chhatiwan, 32 km east of Hetauda. NC election candidate Indra Bahadur Baniya claimed that the incident was a ‘premeditated attack’ and that a political party taking part in the election could have had a hand in the incident.
