A person has been injured in a police firing at Gongabu Mitrapark of Kathmandu on Tuesday.
A police team reached at Hotel Luck of Gongabu on a tip-off about the stay of a suspicious person. The suspicious person was Abilas Tamang hailing from Kavrepalanchowk. He was in possession of a weapon.
As soon as the police team entered his room in the hotel he fired at police, but was injured in response firing, said police official Basanta Lama.
The police team confiscated a loaded Chinese pistol from Tamang. Tamang, injured in the leg, has been admitted to Teaching Hospital of Maharajgunj for treatment.
Preliminary investigation has showed that Tamang had been involved in hooliganism and extortion, added the police. Further investigation is underway.
