Deepak Khadka, district branch treasurer of the Federation of Nepal Journalists has been abused by locals on a public hearing program at Bijaynagar Rural Municipality.
At a public hearing program organized by the Nepal Journalist Federation of Kapilvastu with the purpose of enhancing good governance and accountability, locals Lok Bahadur Srees, Madan Sapkota, Krishna Sapkota, and Kamal Sapkota abused journalists including journalist Khadka, village ward chairperson Gopal Khadka, and others.
The victim has been accused of abusing due to personal reason at the public hearing program which has aimed at facilitating easy access and participation of the people by collecting information, complain and suggestion about the service provided by the rural municipality.
Nepali Journalists' Federation Chairman Dilaram Bhusal and Secretary Hari Adhikari have been urged through a press release issued on February 2 stating that such behavior should be corrected in upcoming days.
