Nabin Raj Kuikel, FNJ district secretary and executive editor of Lamjung Khabar Dainik has been threatened by Nepali Congress Sundarbazaar Village Committee president Murali Kumal on January 24.
Expressing dissatisfaction over editorial published in January 24 issue of the paper in connection with an incident that occurred at Lamjung Campus few days ago, Kumal threatened over a cell phone no 9856045172 that he will cut Kuikel's hands and burn down the paper, according to Kuikel. Kuilkel is also affiliated to Gorkhapatra Daily, Image Television, andn Himali Astha Weekly.
Kumal had also mistreated journalist Anjan Kumar Himali of Janaapechha Weekly to delete photos the latter had taken in the campus same day.
Meanwhile, various human rights organizations and media organizations condemned the incident by issuing a press release on January 24.
The release jointly issued by INSEC district representative, FNJ, Press Chautari, Press Union, Revolutionary Journalist Association, Adibasi Janajati Journalist Association among others flayed the threat issued upon a journalist and demanded action against the guilty.
