Indefinite Padlocking of School Affects Studies

Studies have been affected after Baijanath Higher Secondary School in BhimduttaN.P.4 is padlocked indefinitely over appointment of teacher in a vacant post on January 25.  

 

Teachers and staff of the school, stating that decision was taken to appoint a teacher in the school against established selection process and the Education Act, have padlocked the school indefinitely since January 25.

 

As the schools have been closed, studies of some 1500 students studying in the school have been affected, guardians said.

 

According to the agitating teachers, they took the move after the School Management Committee in its nexus with District Education Office decided to appoint Bhakta Bahadur Karki, an English teacher of Darchula district in the vacant post of Social Studies Teacher in the school recently. The post of social studies teacher had been vacant in the school for the past two years and 33 applications were received after the school management committee published a vacancy announcement to fulfill the post recently.

 

The agitating teachers and staff said the padlocking will continue until the decision is scrapped.
