The members of the civil society held banners and pamphlets of Lord Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi Mother Teresa and staged silent protest holding placard bearing slogans like “ stop terrorism” “ enough is enough” and “ stop bloodshed”.  At least 40 CRPF personnel were killed after a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the convoy of the security forces. The Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a terror outfit based in Pakistan, claimed the responsibility for the attack.

Since the attack on February 14, spontaneous protests have been taking place in several parts of Nepal by the local civil society leaders. During the protest, the participants offered condolences to those killed in the incident and condemned the act carried out by Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

On February 15, a civil society group belonged to Madhesi community held a candlelight rally in Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu in memory of those killed in the Pulwama attack.

“We offered pray to the departed soul and support the bid of Indian government in its position to eliminate the terrorism,” Birendra KM, one of the organisers of the rally, said.

On Saturday, at least six spontaneous rallies were held in various parts of the country including in Birgunj, Jaleshwar, Bhubeneshwar, and Rupandehi.

No banner are used, said KM, these are independent people's rally to express solidarity those killed in the attack as India is our closed neighbor and friend.
