Four Students Arrested for Greeting PM with Black Flags

Police have arrested four students affiliated to various students wings alleging that they had showed black flags to Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai on January 27.

 

Students of 13 student unions, who have been staging phasewise agitations protesting the recent price hike of petroleum products, had showed black flags to the PM while police arrested the agitating students after raining batons to them.

 

The arrested students have been identified as NSU district chairperson Prakash Sigdel, ANNFSU district chairperson and Bageshwori Multiple Campus Kohalpur FSU president Surya Bahadur Rokaya, NSU Campus Unit Committee member Keshav Oli and ANNFSU Kohalpur City Committee member Janak Pun. All the students, who were arrested from KohalpurN.P.3, were released later today.

 

Three students including NSU's Bhola Nath Sharma and Anish Kafle and Bageshwori Multiple Campus FSU secretary Tanka Prasad Kafle were injured when police had rained batons to them while they were showing black flags to the PM, NSU district member Bhumi Bhandari said.

 

Students showed black flags to the PM when he was heading to Chisapani from the Airport to attend a party cadres' training organized by UCPN-M at Chisapani.
