Bomb detonated at Bharatpur ward office; six held

CHITWAN, March 13: A powerful cylinder bomb was detonated at the office of Bharatpur Metropolis-5, Torikhet this morning.

The detonation was carried out at around 12.30 am this morning.

According to Superintendant of Police (SP) Sushil Singh Rathor, also the Chief of District Police Office, Chitwan, the explosion smashed window screens of the ward office and destroyed official documents. 

The incident took place when there was massive mobilization of police in the district. Police detained six persons immediately following the incident on charge of their involvement in the explosion. Investigation into the incident is underway, police informed. 

He said the fire was taken control by mobilising security personnel and fire engine of the metropolis immediately after knowing about the incident. 

The police has speculated Netra Bikram Chand Biplav-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN)'s involvement in the blast incident.
