A person was gunned down in Krishnanagar municipality-10, Bidyanagar of Kapilvastu last night.

Achyuttam Pudasaini, Superintendent of Police (SP), confirmed that Paras Puri, 45, a local, was shot dead by an unidentified group.

Puri who sustained critical chest injury died in course of the treatment at the State Hospital Butwal, police said.

Two unidentified people borne out of a motorbike had opened fire at him nearby his home and fled the scene.

Police took three under control for preliminary investigation of the event.

SP Pudasaini informed that police have intensified security screening along all border checkpoints immediately after the incident.

Puri has been engaged in sending youths to overseas employment.
