A sub-inspector sustained a minor injury on his finger while an unidentified person sustained hand injuries in crossfire at Bhokraha of Sunsari district. The injured sub-inspector, Chandra Kumar Shakya is undergoing treatment at Biratnagar Zonal Hospital.
District Police Office Sunsari’s spokesperson, DSP Gyanendra Prasad Phuyal said that a football match ongoing in the area. The police personnel were stopping two-wheelers for a security check. “During the security check, some local youths approached the two duty officers and questioned the halt. When the police officers showed their identity, the mob seized the revolver and fired shots – injuring the sub-inspector.”
The DSP said that further details were yet to come. According to Dev Kumar Yadav, duty officer at District Police Office Sunsari, the incident took place at around 3 PM.
