A bureau office of Avenues Television in Birgunj was vandalised today.
Some unidentified masked youths had vandalised the office while TV staffers were working inside, said SP Rewati Dhakal.
A board put up outside the office, window panes and doors were damaged in the incident. Lensman Jakir Hussain’s camera was also damaged in the incident.
Avenues Parsa correspondent Hari Shankar Sharma said Samajwadi Party-Nepal’s activists had vandalised the office. He claimed that a group of six activists led by Samajwadi Party-Nepal’s local leader and Birgunj Ward-12 Chair Tufan Singh had vandalised the office.
SP-N leader and Minister Upendra Yadav had left an interview titled Sakas Rajniti half-way last evening. Sharma said vandalism was a consequence of the TV interview.
Parsa Chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists condemned the incident and demanded that those involved in the vandalism be booked pronto. Police said that they had launched an investigation into the incident.
