Two women were rescued by police and Maiti Nepal from border area in Birgunj on the morning of September 22. While questioning the women, it was found that one of the two women worked in a dance bar in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu. The woman started having chronic stomach aches and even after going to the doctor in Kathmandu, the pain continued.
A man named Surya Lama convinced her that she'd receive good treatment at hospitals in India. So, the woman accompanied by her roommate, were on their way to India. Lama who stayed at the same hotel in Birgunj put the women in a rickshaw and told them to wait at a bridge in Raxaul. It is suspected that the women were being trafficked to India. However, they were rescued after the team from Maiti Nepal stopped them.
