Sindhupalchok/November 14 The locals of Sagachok VDC have handed over Narayan Bahadur Shrestha, teacher of Shree Janjagriti Higher Secondary School to police on November 10 on charge of sexually abusing six boys. Shrestha, 28, and a resident of Thulosirubari VDC-6 was smeared with soot on his face and taken round the bazaar by locals before being handed over to the police. The six boys – aged between 11 and 14 – were repeatedly molested by the teacher. The incident became public after one of the boys went to a health post for treatment since he could not walk due to injuries he had sustained by the sexual abuse. Five of the victims have been kept at the rehabilitation centre in Chautara while one is being treated at his home, Bal Krishna Basnet, officer of the district child welfare committee said. Inspector Beni Silwal of the district police office said that the teacher has been kept in police custody since November 10 for investigation. -Na
