Cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal attacked a couple at Jakhauli Chure in Hariharpur Gadhi Rural Municipality-2, Sindhuli, on Tuesday. According to SP Chakra Bahadur Singh, Hari Krishna Ghimire, 35, and his wife Ganga, 30, were beaten while they were returning home from the rural municipal office.

The couple sustained severe injuries on their hands. They have been taken to Hetauda for further treatment. Ghimire, who used to work as the district secretary of the Chand party in Sindhuli and Mahottari, had defected from the party six months ago. SP Singh said he has mobilized a police team to search for the group involved in the attack. (PR)
