Province 1, Morang, Kerabari, Ward 5
A group of youths has attacked Congress leader Brish Thapa and young businessman Anil Basnet in Kerabari Rural Municipality-5 of Morang.
According to police, Thapa and Basnet were attacked during the inspection of 1,600 meters black-topped road from Chowk to Sumnima Chowk.
According to Bimal Rai, a local resident, Basnet had gone to mediate after the youths started attacking Thapa with sticks and stones. Police Inspector Rajkumar Rai of the Area Police Office, Belbari, said the group of seven people attacked them.
It is suspected that the group including Himal Limbu, Amit Limbu, Basant Limbu, and Bikram Katuwal might have attacked Thapa in retaliation for not awarding the contract of black-topping work.
Police arrested Basant and Bikram on Monday afternoon. Police are further investigating the incident. The youths involved in the incident were also previously involved in bullying, intimidation, and extortion of the general public and businessmen, police said. Basnet's arm is broken from the beating. He has been taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
