UML Cadres Injured in CPN-M Attack

Jajarkot/October 14, Cadres of CPN-UML have been injured when attacked by a group of CPN-M at Bahunthana village while the former were campaigning for Constituent Assembly (CA) elections on October 27 afternoon. UML cadres Karna Bahadur Bista, 26, of Khalanga VDC-6, Mohan Thapa, 24, and Nar Bahadur Pun, 27, of same place were injured in the attack led by Prithvi Bahadur Singh of CPN-M affiliated People's Volunteers Association (PVA). UML Central Representative Council Member Bhairav Sundar Shrestha said that the UML cadres were hurt when around 15 CPN-M cadres attacked them with iron rod and lathi asking them why they had arrived at the village for election campaign at a time when the CPN-M had declared boycott of the elections. District member of PVA Prithvi Bahadur Singh also got injured in the retaliation by UML cadres. The injured received treatment at local medical shop. UML has accused that the CPN-M had earlier threatened not to conduct election campaigns in the village. UCPN-M Bheri Karnali State Committee member Kali Bahadur Malla informed that CPN-M cadres had also prohibited them from conducting election campaigns in the village. CPN-M Jajarkot Secretary Pratap Jaisi said that the cadres might have retaliated as the party had adopted the policy of boycotting elections.
