NHRC Urges for Acceptance of Public Opinion

Lalitpur/November 22, National Human Rights Commission has urged the parties to accept the poll results saying it would be a disregard for public opinion not to accept the results after participating in the election and agreeing to the vote counting process. Citing the provisions of the international human rights conventions and the Interim Constitution of Nepal, the NHRC called for respect of democratic norm, value and human rights in a statement issued on November 22. Acting secretary Bed Prasad Bhattarai has asked all the parties to be part of democratic and human rights friendly new constitution making process and lead the country towards lasting peace. NHRC conducted observation in 31 districts during the filing of the candidacy, in 75 districts before the elections and in 66 districts during the elections. In the statement, NHRC also said that the high level observation team and other teams found the elections held in peaceful and fearless environment.
