SARLAHI, June 29: A construction worker sustained bullet injuries when an unidentified group opened fire at Lalbandi municipality in Sarlahi on Saturday.
The injured has been identified as Jayanath Mahato, 30, of Lalbandi municipality. Two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants fired at Mahato when he was getting involved in the construction of Bhramputra temple today afternoon. Mahato had received bullet on his left forearm, according to police.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Pratit Singh Rathaur told Republica Online that Mahato was referred to Birgunj for further treatment after receiving primary treatment at local health post.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident. However, they have yet to ascertain the cause behind the firing. The two assailants fled to nearby forest after firing shots at Mahato, locals said.
