107 Limbuwan Cadres Arrested for Anti-poll Activities

Jhapa/October 24, At least 107 cadres of Federal Limbuwan State Council (FLSC) have been arrested from various places of the district on October 24 for carrying out anti-poll activities. According to district president of FLSC Dhan Bahadur Pandhak, Rajendra Limbu, Manish Maden, Bishal Limbu, Vivek Limbu, Yakthum Subba, Prakash Gurung, Dinesh Limbu, Gyanu Rai, Himal Pradhan, Ran Bahadur Phumbo are among the arrested. Pandhak said that 30 of the arrested are yet to be released. SP Sher Bahadur Basnet, Chief of Jhapa police said that 107 Limbuwancadres were arrested from Budhabare, Shantinagar, Kakarvitta, Prithvinagar, Damak and other places. He added that only 18 of those arrested were being held for investigation while the rest had been released. Kandhak has warned to stage strong protest if the FLSC cadres were not released. The FLSC has taken to streets protesting against the CA elections. It has put forward demands including guarantee of Limbuwan state, resignation of the Chief of Interim Election Council from the post of Chief Justice. The group had organized a march past as part of its protest programs from Urlabari of Morang to Damak of Jhapa on October 24. The march past, however, could not take place due to strict security measures undertaken by police.
