Four persons have been injured in a clash between the police and the locals of Lalpatta in TriyugaN.P.11 on January 29 evening after the police mistreated Umesh Mahara Pariyar, 21, for over charging the export tax.
The injured are identified as APF constable Raj Kumar KC, locals Binda Lama, 45, Narbada Raut, 59, and Urmila Pariyar, 35.
The incident ensued after Pariyar, representative of the contractor was accused of overcharging the tax for a truck load of timber sent from Baruwa Kashtha Uddhyog, Morang.
Among the injured, Narbada and Urmila are being treated at a nursing home in Lahan while seriously injured Binda was taken to Dharan for treatment.
Police also arrested Deepak Sundas of Morang who was visiting a relative, Surya Bahadur Bhatta, Gangadhoj Karki, Sagar Adhikari, Kedar Raut, Deepak Khatri, Santosh Khatri and the contractor Shaurav Karki of TriyugaN.P.2.
Saurav's family has claimed that the hitting by police boot has left his two fingers of right hand broken. It is yet to be confirmed because he has been taken for the X-ray.
District Police Office said the policemen retaliated after they were assaulted by the locals calling for
highway bandh.
Locals say the police had broken the door of Binda Lama's house attacking the people there. According to them, the police also damaged a motorcycle with the number plate Sa 2 Pa 7243 and a jeep with the number plate Me 1 Cha 649 belonging to Tulasa Bohora.
