Political Parties' Campaign against Election Code

Sindhuli/ November 12 Various political parties in the district have intensified their election campaign violating the election code of conduct (CoC). According to the election CoC, the vehicles used for election campaign has to be registered at the election office. However, most of the vehicles used by the parties have not received permission from the election office. In constituency no. 2, the UCPN-M, NC, UML and RPP take out motorcycle rally carrying flags with their election signs. The office of the election officer said that only NC poll candidate from constituency no. 1 Bipin Koirala and UCPN-M poll candidate from constituency no. 2 Ganga Narayan Shrestha had taken permission to use light vehicle for the election campaign. Many big buses have been used by UCPN-M on November 3 during the election assembly addressed by UCPN-M Chairperson Prachanda at Dudhauli of constituency no. 1. He had used the helicopter to address the constituency no. 3 at Jhangajholi on November 3. NC used the premises of Kalika High School of Ranichuri VDC for their election assembly on November 10. NC used a big bus to bring their cadres for the election assembly. The political parties have increased their activities against the election CoC. The political parties have been pasting posters on the walls of prohibited places and using big and colorful banners against the election CoC. The small political parties are equally involved in such violation. At least 8 violations of election CoC have been lodged at the election office. The complaints regarding use of t-shirts, banners, posters and news regarding character assassination of poll candidates has been lodged at the election office. The election monitoring officer Shankar Basyal said that the parties have been warned not to violate the CoC.
