Chief election commissioner Nil Kantha Uprety, who had arrived Taplejung for the distribution program, handed over the voter identity cards to Anand Gautam of Dokhu VDC-1 and Rajendra Shrestha of Phungling VDC-4. The ID cards have been delivered in most of districts, Uprety said. The distribution to the remaining district will commence soon through the voting officers in the polling booths, according to EC. Uprety, while distributing the voter ID cards in the field of in Shri Baux Battalion, urged the voters to cast vote freely saying that the election would be held in a fear-free environment. He further said that Taplejung has been listed as a sensitive district as it would take longer time to take ballot boxes from one polling booth to another. Saying that there is no alternative to participating in the election in democracy, he urged 33-party alliance to call off all their protest. He said that democracy ensures right to protest but does not provide right to obstruct.
