Police have fired gunshots in Rajapur Municipality-8, Kudiaama to take two clashing groups in control. A clash ensued following a dispute of hosting a flag by a community in a pond near Kudiyabazaar. Likewise, an idol made by the community celebrating Chhath festival was vandalized. Police fired 8 shells of tear gas and 29 rounds of warning shots. A dozen policemen were injured during the clash whereas a police vehicle was vandalized by the clashing groups. 

There have been clashes between these religious groups every year during this time of the year. Tension is high in this area, especially since Rajpur municipality borders India. Following the incident, as many as 300 security personnel have been deployed to heighten security to thwart any untoward activities in the area, Chief District Office Kiran Thapa said.
