Seven people, including a 2-year-old child were injured by a beating during a land dispute at Musaharaniya tole in Bishnupur Rural Municipality-3 of Saptari district.

Dukhi Mali, his wife Paro, son Rameshwor, daughter Kanchan, Chandani, America and 2-year-old grandson Nitesh were injured in a beating by one side of the party in the land dispute on Wednesday morning.

One of the injured is in critical condition. According to Chandrika Kumari Mali, a group of people including Laldev Mali, Raju Mali, Prabhat Mali, and Anurag Mali attacked them with homemade weapons when they tried to stop land encroachment.

2-year-old grandson Nitish has been also injured in the beating. All the injured are being treated at local Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital. Doctors involved in treatment said Dukhi Mali's condition is critical due to the head injury. 

The villagers said all the accused have absconded after the incident. District Police Office, Saptari, said that investigation on the incident is underway.
