Child marriage prevails in Musahar community, a marginalized community of Dudhauli Municipality, Sindhuli. Almost all the children here get married early.  As the marriage takes place very early, girls also give birth at an early age and has a negative impact on health. The community is against family planning because they believe their god will not tolerate such measures  and they refuse to use contraceptives.

According to SP Chakra Bahadur Singh of District Police Office, Sindhuli, no child marriage complaint from Musahar community has been lodged with the police so far and according to the complaints,only six child marriages have taken place in the last fiscal year in Sindhuli.

There are 676 Mushahars houses  and their population is around 5,000, said Mallav Adhikari, an official of Dudhauli Municipality. According to him, the municipality is formulating child-friendly policies to reduce child marriage and has already already allocated budget for it.
