On 15 September, 23-year-old Sunita Rana of Dhangadi sub-metropolis-13 has attempted suicide after being physically and verbally assaulted by 38-year-old Phulmaya Rana on allegation of being a witch. Phulmaya is Sunita's aunt by relation. 

The victim's elder mother took the victim to the Seti zonal hospital. The victim is recovering and has confessed the poison consumption, not being able to withstand the injustice. DSP Dakshakumar Basnet of the District Police Office said that he does not have any information regarding the issue and that he has not received a complaint from the victim.
