SUNSARI: Police arrested one person in possession of a huge cache of illegal drugs, arms, and ammunitions and made him public at the District Police Office, Sunsari, in Dharan, on Monday.

A police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhundi Raj Neupane apprehended Niroj Kumar Raut of Koshi Rural Municipality-3 in Sunsari district, from Dharan-10, on Sunday.

During the raid, police seized one pistol, 13 round of 7.65 mm live bullets, and a huge cache of controlled pharmaceutical drugs–Spasom Proxyvon Plus, Dlalex DC 100, Nitrosun 100, seven-gram brown sugar and Rs 11, 000 in cash from his rented room, DSP Neupane shared.

“The suspect had been involved in smuggling drugs for a long time in the area,” DSP Neupane added. Police presented the suspect before the District Court today itself and remanded in custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, police are preparing to file a case against the alleged drug peddler under the Narcotic Drug Control Act, 1976 and Arms and Ammunition Act, 2019.
