A sixth grader of Shiva International Boarding School was injured after a teacher thrashed him at Rajbiraj in Saptari.
Chandan Jha, a teacher, thrashed Sumit Kumar Bhagat with an iron pipe indiscriminately yesterday after Sumit insisted on going to his house from the school hostel. Sumit has been staying in the school hostel for the last six months. He tried to go to his house from the hostel which was one kilometer away.
Relatives of Sumit said Sumit had received injuries on his feet, hands and back among other body parts. Sumit’s father Sadananda Bhagat said that Jha had beaten his son indiscriminately last evening. He said Sumit was brought home after treatment in Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.
He demanded stern action against the teacher and sought compensation. “We kept our son in the school hostel for good education, not for physical punishment,” he added.
Meanwhile, Principal Naresh Pratap Sah said action would be taken against the culprit after fair investigation. Police said that necessary investigation and further procedure for taking action against the culprit would be initiated as per the case filed by the victim’s guardian.
