Squatters and land tillers of various parts of the district have staged protest at the district headquarters on January 27. The protest was organized by District Land Rights Forum.

The rally which started from Traffic chok in Ghorahi converted into a sit-in at the district administration office after going through various parts of the district.

They handed over a memorandum to the Prime Minister through the district administration office. They have demanded that no provision of compensation should be kept for land beyond the ceiling in the new constitution; the makeshift huts should not be torched and the squatters should not be evicted without arranging for their proper settlement, buying and selling of land should be stopped until the new constitution is promulgated.
