2019-11-07

Bagmati, Lalitpur, Lalitpur

On November 7, a group of agitated youths staged a demonstration in Lalitpur against the new map of India that encroached Nepalese territory. Flex banners that read “Lipulek belong to us; Return it back ” and slogans condemning Indian imperialism echoed in the streets during protests. The agitated group vandalized some government vehicles. The protests also disturbed the traffic for a while.

Earlier, after ending the autonomy of disputed Kashmir through abrogation of Article 370 in August, the Survey General of India, on Nov 2, released a new political map of the newly formed Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir Ladakh which placed the regions Kalapani and Lipu Lekh claimed by Nepal inside its border.
