KATHMANDU, Aadhikari dampati ko jiban raksha garna NHRC ko aagraha. KATHMANDU, DEC 04 - The National Human Rights Commission ( NHRC ) has pleaded for the safeguard of Nanda Prasad Adhikari and his wife's life. The couple is unto a hunger strike demanding investigation into the murder of their son Krishna Prasad Adhikari, who was murdered after abduction in Chitwan by the Maoists in 2004 during the period of insurgency. NHRC pleaded for the safety of Adhikari couple 's life as they have been staging fast-unto-death for the past 38 days. "It is very unfortunate that the family of the victim has to go on a hunger strike time and again for the same issue," the commission said, "There is an urgency to conclude the long pending cases regarding human rights violations during the period of armed conflict." The commission also brought to light that the agreement forged between the government and the representatives of the civil society on September 7, when the Adhikari couple ended their earlier hunger strike , had not been implemented. Nineteen-year-old Adhikari was abducted from Bakulahar Chowk, Ratna Nagar Municipality, in Chitwan on June 2004 by the Maoists and killed the next day. Following threats from the Maoists, Adhikari’s family had to flee their hometown of Fujel VDC in Gorkha.
