A group of youths assaulted 35-year-old Ram Kumar Tharu of Buddha Shanti Municipality-5 with the Khukuri on November 18 during a dispute over taxes on sand and concrete. 36-year-old Dipak Tamang of Mechinagar-9, Suraj Tamang aka Nikhil and other four/five people were involved in the attack, said SP of Jhapa District Police Office, Mahendra Shrestha.
The victim is undergoing treatment at B&C Hospital in Birtamod. The police arrested 17-year old Suman Sundas of Mechinagar Municipality-9, 17-year-old Aamas Limbu of the same place, 18-year-old Sanju Tamang, 22-year-old Harkaraj Rai, and 20-year-old Dipson Nepal for their connection in the incident. However, Dipak Tamang and Suraj Tamang are on the run.
