The victim's side has accused the cadres of the Nepali Congress of attacking Gambhir Singh Saud, a 25-year-old leader of ANNFSU as soon as the election was over in Melekh Rural Municipality-4.
According to Narapati Rawal, the chairperson of the ward number 6 of the same rural municipality, Saud was seriously injured after a group of Congress cadres attacked him with a weapon in the head while he was attending his shop near the Janata Secondary polling center. Saud, who was unconscious, was brought to the district's Wayalpata Hospital for treatment.
A crowd attacked the Mellekh police post citing inadequate security. Police fired some rounds of tear gas to take the situation under control, the police said. Due to the protest, the counting of votes has been interrupted. Police have not released any further details about incidents as the investigations are underway.
