Inmates at district jail alleging that Govinda Tamang, 35, a detainee at the jail was tortured by DSP Kedar Dhakal have staged demonstration inside the prison on February 8.

The agitating inmates alleged that DSP Dhakal forcefully took Tamang out from his room and sternly attacked him in the evening on February 7.

According to Tamang, two police constables deployed for security of the jail Karna BK and Ram Narayan Chaudhari had borrowed Rs. 4500 from him and when he asked the constables to return his money, DSP Dhakal took him out, kicked him with boots and attacked to different organs of his body with batons.

There was minor beating on Tamang as he tried to influence police constables deployed for security of the jail to purchase alcohol. According to him, beating occurred in the course of interrogating Tamang.

CDO Devraj Dhakal said he will initiate necessary action by studying facts in connection with the incident.
