KATHMANDU,Sabbai vanda uchha sankhya ma rajdhani ma balbalika haru harai raheka chan. KATHMANDU, Dec 17: The highest number of children go missing from the Kathmandu Valley. According to the report prepared by the Centre for Children at Risk for Fiscal Year 2012/13, the Central Region accounts for the highest number of missing children at 73 per cent and of this 55 per cent children go missing in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur alone, the three big cities in the Kathmandu Valley. The remaining 27 per cent of the missing children are from the rest four regions. Most of the children who go missing have been found involved in criminal activities like theft, rape and murder, reserch shows.The Centre stated that children go missing as they leave their homes in rural areas for big cities like Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Biratnagar, Pokhara etc. in search of work and to fulfill their aspirations. A majority of the children who go missing like this are aged 11 to 16 years. Programme Officer at the Centre Bhim Bikram Shahi suggests parents to give love and care to their children and keep in mind their sensitivities to prevent the children from running away from home and getting lost.
