KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare has formed district-level committees to check human trafficking in all the 75 districts of the country. Apart from running public awareness programmes, the Committee will also be carrying out rescue work of those already trafficked. Likewise, the Ministry has also set up rehabilitation centres for the rescued women and children in eight districts—Sindhupalchowk, Kathmandu, Kailali, Rupandehi, Jhapa, Banke, Parsa and Chitwan. As of fiscal year 2060/70, the centres have already rehabilitated 1,164 people. The centres have also been providing psychosocial counseling to the rescued women and children, according to Under Secretary at the Ministry Khadga Bahadur Rana.
