Child marriage emerges serious in Parsa

Birgunj, Parsa ma baal bibaha gambhir. BIRGUNJ: The incidents of child marriage are found to be at high rate in Parsa owing to the prevalence of poverty, illiteracy and traditional norms and values, said various stakeholders. The district has witnessed increasing rate of child marriage for illiteracy, awareness deficit and lack of effective enforcement of existing laws on child marriage. Local stakeholders said this at an awareness building programme organised jointly by an NGO outh for Change and Narayani Zonal Police Office, Birgunj in Biruwaguthi, Parsa. They underlined the need to conduct massive public awareness and make effective enforcement of existing legal provisions for the prevention of child marriage.
