District Police Office Sarlahi has refused to register a complaint of assault on a youth by police in the district. According to 26-year-old Jitendra Sah of Malangawa Municipality-2, his brother 17-year-old Amarendra Sah was beaten by police from Gorakhkali Police Post on January 11 around 7:00 PM. DPO refused to register a complaint lodged by the victim's party in the same case.
According to him, a constable from Gorakhkali Police Post stopped Amarendra's scooter while he was heading towards India to buy medicine on January 11. He was then requested to show his license and bill book. As he could only show his bill book, junior police in civil dress approached him to issue fine for riding without a license. The same police beat him. The victim accused that the police beat him for a half-hour by taking him to the police post.
The boy has sustained injuries in his nose, neck and his left hand has been fractured in the incident. He is undergoing treatment at district hospital in Malangawa.
