Case Lodged against Principal for Caste-based Discrimination

A case has been lodged against the Principal of Siddhartha High School, Sahi Bhushan Pandey, 46, of Ramgram Municipality-2 at District Police Office on January 2 accusing him of caste discrimination against school student. Buddhi Lal Harijan, 16, of the same school at standard 10 lodged a complaint against him. The student accused the principal of using proverbs which was caste-based slur and insulting the dalit community on December 8 while teaching. The student was physically abused by the principal and when protested his use of proverb. The principal was arrested by the police on December 1 for the further investigation. The victim further complained that he had lodged a complaint immediately after the incident but police administration, District Education Office and School administration tried to conspire against registering the case. The student then knocked the doors of Human Rights Activists, Dalit Rights Activists and Child Rights activists. With their initiation the complaint was lodged at District Police office.
