Kavre,mahila dwara suraksha ko maag. Shreemaya Lamini, 42, of Pokhari Narayansthan VDC-2 has appealed to District Police Office (DPO) seeking security of her life. Lamini filed the appeal after hundreds of people including village-level UCPN-M leaders came to the DPO to pressurize her to withdraw a complaint that she filed at DPO on January 22. She had filed a complaint saying she was thrashed by her neighbors Pasang Tamang, 38, her son Bikulal Tamang and daughter-in-law Manmaya Tamang, 20on January 15 on charge of being a witch. Police arrested Pasang and Manmany following the complaint. Shreemaya was treated at primary health center on January 22. According to her, during the physical assault on her, accused Manmaya forced her excreta and Pasang torn her hair saying that her teeth fell because of Manmaya's spell. Saying that she had assaulted on the same charge even in the past, Lamini said she filed complaint this time because the accused threatened to expel her from the village.
