Area Police Office Malakheti has arrested Raj Bahadur Khadka, 38, on February 5 on charge of trying to kill his wife Geeta Khadka, 18, of Geta VDC-4. According to APO, Raj was arrested on charge of trying to kill his wife by hitting her with hammer on February 5 morning. Her neighbor had called the police after she cried for help. The APO had also rescued her from the house where she was locked. The victim, in her complaint to the police, stated that her husband had beaten her on charge of speaking with other men the earlier day at a religious pooja. Raj had married her as a second wife four months ago. Police said that his first wife had left him after he beat her up regularly. The victim is kept in a safehouse run by a local NGO.
