It is found that the Birgunj Metropolitan Office has purchase rice, which was provided as relief to the poor, at different prices.
Mayor Vijay Kumar Sarawgi claimed that the rice was procured at the rate available at that time because it was an emergency situation.
When he was asked that the ward office has purchased the same quality rice at a cheaper price than the metropolitan office, he said that the quality of rice purchased by the metropolitan office is comparatively higher than that of the ward office. Therefore it is obvious that their prices are different. According to a businessman from Ranighat, Birgunj, both the rice are of the same quality.
