One Injured in Army Firing

Bardiya, Nepali senako goli laagi mahila ghaite. Pawan Devi Rawal, 38, of Paatabhaar VDC-3 has been injured in army firing on February 12. She was shot by Nepal Army while she had gone to the Singhabani Community Forest along with villagers to get firewood. According to locals, the Nepal Army Bhairab Battalion based in Gorang of Kailali had opened firing during the course of their training which hit her left arm. The injured is undergoing medical treatment at Tikapur Hospital. Husband of the victim Bam Bahadur Rawal said that the bullet has been taken out from the victim's arm and she is out of danger. SP Birendra Kumar Basyal said that the woman sustained bullet fired from the spot where Nepal Army conducts its firing practice. Saying that the army should prior notice to the locals regarding the risks, SP Basyal said that the army had not followed it.
