Some unidentified people opened fire on the ward chairperson of Yasodhara Rural Municipality-8, Sahabuddin Musalman, on Thursday midnight.
Two persons fired four shots at the ward chairperson when he was sleeping at his own residence. However, he has remained unscathed, according to police.
"I don't know who and why fired shots at me last night," ward chairperson Musalman told Republica Online.
Police have been deployed at his residence following the incident. The persons who fired the shots are still at large.
A man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the incident, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sunil Malla. "We are in search of those involved in the incident," he said. The entire Khoriya village has been terrorized following the incident.
Condemning the incident, rural municipality chairperson Girijash Kumar Pandey has called on the police to investigate the incident and bring to book those involved in the crime.
Police have recovered bullet shrapnels from the incident site.
