Residents of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality-3 of Saptari have demanded immediate management of the land, saying that over 100 bighas of paddy fields have been drowned because of lack of rainwater drainage.
Arriving at the district headquarters Rajbiraj on Wednesday with a demonstration from the village, they handed over a memorandum to Shankar Acharya, Chief District Officer (CDO), and warned that they will start an agitation if no initiative is taken to solve the problem immediately.
In the memorandum handed over to the CDO by the victims after the demonstration led by Ram Lakhan Sah, Coordinator of the Struggle Committee mentioned that a dozen of houses including one hundred and twenty-five bighas land of farmers have been drowned after the source of Chorani river got blocked because one party did not allow the river to flow from their land.
