India has banned the movement of Nepali locals to the Kalapani area of Byas in Darchula district. Indian security personnel have also stopped Nepali Citizens from going near the source of Kalapani river where they could freely go in the past.

Indian Security forces have started patrolling further down from the Kalapani area after Nepal issued a political map laying claim to Kalapani, Lipulek, and Limpiyadhura.
